안동석 청평면장은 “청평면민의 날이 코로나19로 인해 잊혀져가는 상황이 아쉬워 면민의 화합과 자긍심을 고취시키고 명맥을 이어가고자 간소하게나마 기념식을 개최하게 되었으며, 다수의 면민이 참석하지 못해 아쉽지만 그간 청평면 발전을 위해 한마음 한뜻으로 애써주신 청평면민께 깊은 감사를 드린다”고 말했다.

청평면민의 날은 외서면에서 청평면으로 행정명칭 변경승인일(2004년 12월 1일)을 기념하기 위해 지난 2011년 4월에 제정된 바 있다고 했다.
