[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 8월 30일 의정부시 안병용 시장은 의정부성모병원을 방문해 올해 8월 말로 4년의 임기가 만료되는 박태철 의정부성모병원장에게 감사패를 전달했다고 밝혔다.

박태철 원장은 가톨릭대학교 산부인과학 박사로서 서울성모병원, 부천성모병원, 의정부성모병원에 근무하였으며 지난 2013년부터 2017년까지 의정부성모병원 진료부원장을 거쳐, 지난 2017년 9월 병원장으로 취임, 2021년 8월까지 제21대~22대 병원장으로 재임했으며, 재임기간 중 지난 2018년 5월 경기북부권역외상센터를 개소하였으며, 2019년 12월에는 외과 단일공 수술 1,000례를 달성하였고, 또한 2020년 5월에는 로봇수술센터 및 뇌센터를 개소하는 성과를 거두었다고 했다.

특히, 사상 초유 코로나19 사태를 맞아 의정부시와 상호 협약을 통해 의료인력을 지원하고 예방접종센터를 운영하는 등 코로나19 대응에 크게 기여하기도 했다고 했다.

안병용 의정부시장은 “의정부시와 협력을 통해 다양한 의료 지원 사업을 전개해 경기북부 보건의료 발전과 시민 건강증진에 이바지해주신 박태철 원장님께 깊은 감사의 말씀을 드린다“ 라고 밝혔다.
