[장선희 기자 = 경기북부] 6월 28일 의정부시 안병용 시장은 의정부시청 상황실에서 2021 의정부 KOVO컵 프로배구대회 유치협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

의정부 KOVO컵은 배구 단일대회 최대 규모 프로대회로 경기북부 최초로 개최되는 대회로 남녀부 총 14개 팀이 참가해 의정부체육관에서 오는 8월 14일부터 29일까지 16일간 진행될 예정이라고 말했다.

이날 협약식은 안병용 의정부시장을 비롯해 ㈔한국배구연맹 신무철 사무총장, 김장희 사무국장과 이명철 의정부시체육회장과 홍성칠 의정부시배구협회장 등이 참석했다고 했다.

신무철 ㈔한국배구연맹 사무총장은 “어려운 시기에 큰 결심을 해준 의정부시에 깊은 감사의 말씀을 드린다.”며 “이번 대회가 의정부시와 체육계에 큰 힘이 되기를 바란다.”라고 말했다.

안병용 의정부시장은 “의정부 KOVO컵 개최가 코로나19로 침체된 지역경제에 활기를 더하고 열띤 축제의 장 속에서 시민여러분에게 희망과 미소를 되찾아 주기를 기대한다”라고 밝혔다.

의정부시는 KOVO컵 프로배구대회가 성공적이고 안전한 대회가 될 수 있도록 코로나19 확산 방지를 위한 철저한 방역과 사회적 거리두기 관중 입장 제한 변동을 고려해 진행할 계획이라고 말했다.
