[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양양군이 본격적인 단풍 시즌을 맞아 남설악 오색지구에 대한 교통관리 비상체제에 돌입한다고 밝혔다.

매년 9~10월이 되면 가을 행락객이 한꺼번에 몰리면서 설악산 오색령(한계령) 일대가 교통체증과 주차난으로 몸살을 앓고 있으며 특히 올해는 7년 만에 오색 흘림골 등산로가 재개방됨에 따라 단풍 행락차량의 국도변 불법주차 등 차량소통에 혼잡이 예상된다.

이에 군은 8월 25일 설악산국립공원 오색분소에서 속초경찰서와 강원도도로관리사업소강릉지소, 도로교통공단 강원도지부, 자율방범대, 모범운전자회 등 유관기관 및 사회단체가 함께한 가운데 간담회를 가지고 흘림골 재개방 관련, 가을철 오색지구 교통안전대책 강구에 나섰다.

군은 오는 29일부터 다음달 31일까지 교통관리 특별대책 기간으로 정하고 자율방범대와 모범운전자회, 경찰 등을 주말과 공휴일 위주로 현장에 배치해 교통 안내 및 불법주정차 단속에 나서기로 했으며 오색령 정상과 용소폭포 입구, 남설악탐방센터, 오색삼거리 등 특히 교통이 혼잡한 지점에는 경찰인력이 2명씩 배치된다.

대형버스는 양양에서 남설악 오색지구로 들어서는 진입로인 관터(서면 오색리 367번지 일원)주차장을 이용하도록 안내하고, 승용차 등 소형차량은 국립공원관리공단 오색분소 입구의 주차타워를 활용해 주차난을 해소할 방침이며 관터 주차장은 대형버스 50여대를 수용할 수 있고, 관리동, 화장실 등이 갖춰져 있고, 국도변 오색약수길을 따라 오색지구로 안전하게 이동할 수 있으며 또 지난 2020년 10월 서면 오색리 485번지 일원에 조성된 5층 규모의 주차타워는 승용차 471대를 주차할 수 있고 주차요금은 1일 5,000원이다.  

김시삼 전략교통과장은 “올해는 7년 만에 흘림골 등산로가 개방됨에 따라 더 많은 등산객들이 몰릴 것으로 에상된다”며, “국도변 불법 주정차를 집중적으로 단속해 원활한 차량소통과 안전사고에 중점을 두고 교통관리를 해나가겠다”고 말했다.
