[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동두천시가 도시재생 뉴딜사업을 통해 생연2동, 중앙동 일원에 1억 원을 들여 안전한 마을환경을 조성하는 사업을 추진하고 있다고 밝혔다.

본 사업은 안전한 마을환경 조성이라는 목표 아래 안전거리 조성사업과 범죄예방 활동단 구성 및 활동사업 등 2가지로 나뉘어 추진되며, 올해 추진되는 안전거리 조성사업은 원도심 내 안전취약지역에 CCTV 10개소, 고보조명 10개소, 비상벨 10개소를 지정하여 설치하는 사업이라고 전했다. 

특히 이번 안전거리 조성사업은 사업시작 단계부터 주민의견 수렴절차를 충분히 진행해 지역주민들로부터 호응을 받고 있다고 했다. 

시 관계자는 “CCTV, 안전벨 등의 설치를 통해 시민들의 안전과 강력사고 예방을 위해 노력하겠다”며 “도시재생 뉴딜사업을 통해 밤낮으로 시민이 안심하고 생활할 수 있는 안전한 생연2동, 중앙동을 만들기 위해 힘쓰겠다”라고 밝혔다.
