온탕 소독법은 벼 종자를 60도 고온에 10분간 침지 소독 후 찬물로 식히고 싹 틔우기를 해 상자에 파종하는 방식으로 종자 소독약을 이용한 키다리병 방제 방법에 비해 노동력과 시간이 많이 소비되지만 볍씨 내 도열병과 세균성 벼알마름병, 벼 잎선충 등 종자 전염병에 대한 소독 효과가 좋고 키다리병 방제에 97% 이상 효과가 있다고 알려져 있다고 전했다. 

볍씨 소독을 희망하는 농가는 농업기술센터 작물기술팀으로 예약을 하면 된다고 했다.
