[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 오는 3월 2일 환경부 원주지방환경청‧한강유역환경청은 양평군과 국가하천 정비사업대행공사 협약(‘20. 11. 11)을 체결한 두물머리 생태학습장 활성화사업을 본격적으로 착수한다고 밝혔다. 

이번 사업은 지난 ’13. 12월에 조성됐던 ‘두물머리 생태학습장’의 현장 체험학습 조성을 위한 리모델링 사업으로, 기존 두물머리 생태학습장에 친환경 학습공간과 체험프로그램 마련을 촉구하는 농민단체의 민원을 해소하기 위하여 양평군과 농민단체의 협약(‘20.9)을 통해 협의체를 출범하여 추진하는 사항이며, 원주지방환경청에서 국비(45.5억)를 보조하여 민․관 갈등해소와 화합으로 국가 신뢰도를 제고하는 등, 양평군 지역발전을 도모하기 위한 사업추진이 성사되어 오는 12월 28일 준공을 목표로 두고 있다고 했다.

한편, 본 사업을 통해 친환경 휴게공간을 구축하고 체험형 교육 장소로 텃밭 및 생태학습장을 제공하는 등 주민참여 공간이 마련될 예정이라고 전했다.

원주지방환경청 관계자는 “두물머리 생태학습장 조성사업이 최근 코로나-19 확산으로 위축되었던 지역경기 활성화에 큰 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.”고 밝혔다.
