[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강원도, 평창군, 한국국제협력단이 공동으로 주최하고, 2018평창 기념재단이 주관하는 ‘2022 평창평화포럼(PyeongChang Peace Forum, PPF)’이 오는 2월 22일부터 24일까지 3일간, 강원도 알펜시아 컨벤션센터 일원에서 개최된다고 밝혔다.

올해로 4회째 개최하는 평창평화포럼은 ‘종전선언과 그 너머’라는 대주제 아래 경제, 스포츠, DMZ 평화지대, UN 지속가능발전목표, 평화공공외교 5개의 핵심의제에 대해 지속적으로 논의하는 한편, 특별주제로 ‘2024 강원 동계청소년올림픽 남북공동개최를 통한 평화협력’ 방안을 다룬다고 했다.

특히, 이번 평창평화포럼은 청년 그리고 MZ세대를 중심으로 폭넓은 평화의 실천 방안과 이슈를 주도적으로 이끌어 갈 수 있도록 많은 프로그램을 운영한다고 했다.

지난 해 12월 13일, 22명의 청년들을 위촉하여 제1기 평창평화포럼 청년위원회를 구성했고, 청년위원회에서는 평창평화포럼 발전을 위한 제안 및 아이디어를 모색하고 있으며 최종 5개 팀의 아이디어를 도출하여 토론을 통해 평창평화포럼에 반영할 계획이라고 했다.

2020년부터 매년 평창평화포럼마다 15세~28세 사이의 전 세계 청년들을 대상, UN 사무총장의 ‘우리 공동의 의제’ 보고서를 바탕으로 평화 에세이 작성 및 그룹토론을 진행하고 있다고 했다.

포럼 행사기간에 맞추어 2월 중 ‘평화인재양성프로젝트 3기’를 모집예정이며 도내 청소년 약100여 명을 대상으로 6개월간의 평화 교육 및 활동을 지원할 계획이며, 또한, 이번 평창평화포럼에서는 미팅테크놀로지 기술을 활용한 세계최초 메타버스 DMZ 평화지대를 선보인다고 했다.

메타버스 내, 아바타를 통해 DMZ의 평화 분위기를 직·간접적으로 체험할 수 있도록 상호작용이 가능한 다양한 콘텐츠와 공연 관람이 가능하도록 구현할 계획이라고 했다.

메타버스 내 구축된 DMZ 평화지대에서 참가자들이 모여 회의를 비롯한 네트워크 활동을 하는 등 의미 있게 활용하고, 향후 메타버스 DMZ 평화지대를 전 세계 누구나 이용할 수 있는 공간으로 공유할 예정이라고 했다.

김종욱 강원도 문화관광체육국장은“코로나19로 어려운 상황속이지만 평화정착을 위한 논의는 멈출 수 없기에 세계 유일의 분단도인 강원도에서 한반도와 세계 평화구축의 장을 마련하겠다.”며 2022 평창평화포럼에 많은 관심과 참여를 부탁한다고 전했다.
