[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 12월 21일 동두천시학교밖청소년지원센터는 미2사단 1-38포병대대와 동두천시청 대회의실에서 크리스마스 맞이 후원품 전달식을 가졌다고 밝혔다.

후원품은 총 350만원 상당의 생필품, 장난감 등으로 관내 학교 밖 청소년 및 저소득 가정 청소년 170명에게 전달됐다고 했다. 

이번 행사는 미2사단 1-38포병대대 소속이자 동두천시학교밖청소년지원센터 멘토로 활동 중인 카투사의 제안(선임병장 김예준)과 기획(상병 김윤석, 상병 김윤성)으로 시작됐으며, 1-38포병대대 부대원들의 자발적 참여로 소외계층을 위한 모금 활동 ‘파이 인 더 페이스’을 진행했다고 전했다.

‘파이 인 더 페이스’는 상사 얼굴에 생크림이 묻은 파이를 던지는 이벤트로 참여 인원은 100명, 모금액은 3,000달러라고 했으며, 또한 직접 후드티를 제작하여 판매한 수입금으로 후원금을 마련했다고 했다.

미2사단 1-38포병대대는 “가정 형편이 어려운 미군 장병들이 많지만 동두천시 청소년들을 위해 보답하고 베풀고 싶은 마음으로 모금 행사에 참여했고, 이번 인연을 계기로 매년 학교 밖 청소년들에게 꾸준히 지원할 수 있는 자리를 마련하도록 노력하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
