[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 9일 오후 2시 40분 원주시는 농업인 소득향상에 기여한 BHN바이오(주)에 원주시청 시장 집무실에서 감사패를 증정했다고 밝혔다.

교촌그룹 자회사인 BHN바이오(주)는 교촌치킨의 양념류 소스를 생산하는 업체로 올해 신림면 29농가, 귀래면 16농가 등 원주지역 45농가와 국산 홍고추 계약재배를 진행했다고 했다.

이를 통해 총 4억 7천 8백만 원, 농가당 1천만 원이 넘는 소득을 올려 지역 농업인의 안정적인 수입에 큰 보탬이 됐다고 전했다. 

BHN바이오(주)는 2021년 8월 기준 380억 원의 매출액을 기록한 중견그룹으로 그동안 남부지방을 중심으로 계약재배를 추진해 오다가 올해부터 중부지방으로 사업영역을 확대했다고 했다.

특히, 신림면 지역은 여름철 큰 일교차로 인해 다른 지역보다 고추의 크기도 크고 병충해가 적어 고추재배 유망지역이라고 밝혔다.

내년에는 계약재배 면적이 9ha 이상 늘어날 것으로 예상되는 가운데, 고추가 원주지역의 새로운 농가 소득작목으로 급부상할 전망이라고 했다.
