[김준호 기자=동해시] 동해시가 해양과 산악, 도심을 아우르는 권역별 관광지 개발사업 추진으로 시민 소득과 직결되는 관광특화도시 동해 완성에 속도를 낸다고 밝혔다.

이에따라, 올해 무릉별유천지에 10억원을 투입하여 시기별 개화 꽃 식재 및 포토존 등 휴식공간을 조성해 관광객들에게 볼거리와 즐길거리를 제공한다는 계획이다.

무릉계곡 권역은 18억여 원을 투입해 2024년까지 피마름골(1.4㎞), 두타산성길(0.8㎞) 및 용추폭포(0.2㎞) 등을 정비하고, 명품 트래킹 코스를 조성해 나간다는 계획이다.

아울러, 추암근린공원 및 추암관광지 일원에 20억여 원을 투입해 미디어 파사드를 활용, 조각 예술을 감상하는 특화조명 설치 등 추암의 여명 빛 테마파크를 조성할 해예정이다.

특히, 2026년까지 천곡동굴 자연학습체험공원 일원에 체험시설, 조형물 및 실감미디어 설치 등 테마가 있는 공간을 조성을 위해 80억원을 투입한다.

또한, 2025년까지 도째비골 사면 및 논골담길 골목길에 경관을 개선하고, 벽화마을 주택의 불빛과 조화되는 천상의 화원을 조성해 야간관광 특화도시 도약에 20억여 원 투자에 나설 계획이다.

한편, 2024년까지 묵호 수변공원일대에 100억여 원을 투입해 주차빌딩 및 공원을 조성한다는 방침이다.

심규언 시장은 “5대권역의 특색에 맞는 테마별 개발을 통해 동해시 경제관광지도를 획기적으로 바꿔 1000만 관광객 시대를 앞당기겠다” 고 밝혔다.
