[김준호 기자 = 동해시] 동해시(시장 심규언) 추암해변과 추암 촛대바위를 잇는 교량 하부에 해풍으로 인한 부식 등으로 주변 경관과 어울리지 못한다는 지적에 따라 노후된 교량의 정비와 경관개선을 마쳤다.

동해시는 이번에 이색적으로 디자인된 추암촛대바위 입구 교량은 앞으로 추암의 상징적인 포토존은 물론 추암을 다시 한번 핫 플레이스로 떠오르게  할 것으로 기대하고 있다고 밝혔다.

현재 추암은 추암조각공원과 출렁다리, 해안산책로가 잘 조성되어 있고, 능파대, 해암정, 아름다운 해안가로 2022년 9월까지 110만여명의 관광객이 방문하는 관광 명소다.

특히, 시는 추암근린공원에 2022년부터 조각공원에 특화조명과 미디어 파사드를 설치하는 ‘추암의 여명 빛 테마파크 조성공사’를 2023년 완공예정으로, 향후에는 낮부터 밤까지 다양하고 볼거리가 많은 대표 관광지로 조성할 방침이다.

이인섭 관광개발과장은 “5대 권역별 특화관광도시 완성을 위해 논골담길 천상의화원 조성, 무릉별유천지 2단계사업, 추암빛테마파크 조성사업 등 지속적인 개발사업을 추진하여 관광·휴양도시로 확고하게 자리매김 할 수 있도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다.
