[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 4일 화천군 인재육성재단은 지난 2017년 설립 이후 현재까지 모두 4,134명의 대학생에게 총 114억원의 지역인재 지원금(등록금 72억원, 거주공간 지원금 42억원)이 지급됐다고 전했다. 

화천지역 대학생들이 집을 떠나 매학기 등록금과 매월 거주비까지 내야 하는 점을 감안하면, 연간 부담액은 1,000만원을 가볍게 뛰어 넘는다고 했으나 재단은 학생의 부모 또는 실질 보호자가 주민등록 기준 3년 이상 지역에 실거주하기만 하면 부모의 소득에 상관없이 대학 재학기간 등록금 실 납입액 100%를 지급해오고 있다고 밝혔다.

또한 월 50만원의 한도 내에서 월세와 기숙사비 등 거주비 실비 100%를 지원 중이라고 했고 재단의 지원 뿐 아니라, 화천군은 매년 방학 시기마다 대학생 일자리를 마련해 아르바이트로 학업에 지장을 받지 않도록 배려하고 있다고 했다. 

최문순 화천군 인재육성재단 이사장은 “화천의 인재들이 교육비 부담으로 학업을 멈추거나 꿈을 포기하는 일은 결단코 없을 것”이라며 “누구나 의지만 있다면 마음껏 공부할 수 있도록 최선을 다해 지원하겠다”고 강조했다. 

한편, 화천군 인재육성재단은 오는 8월22일부터 9월2일까지, 2학기 지역인재 지원신청을 접수한다고 전했다.
