신청 대상은 원주시에서 일반음식점으로 영업 신고를 하고 개업한 지 6개월이 지난 업소이며, 신청 희망 업소는 신청서를 작성해 원주시보건소 위생과로 제출하면 된다고 했다.

신청한 업소를 대상으로 위생 상태 및 서비스, 맛 등 현지 심사를 실시하고, 음식문화개선운동 추진위원회의 심의를 거쳐 모범음식점을 최종 지정할 계획이며, 모범음식점으로 지정되면 지정증 및 표지판 제공, 쓰레기 종량제 봉투 지원, 상수도 사용료 월 30% 감면, 지하수 수질 검사비 지원 등 다양한 혜택이 주어진다고 전했다.

보건소 관계자는 “음식문화 개선에 동참하기 위한 모범음식점 지정에 많은 참여 바란다.”라며, “앞으로도 원주시 외식문화 발전을 위해 더욱 노력하겠다.”라고 말했다.
