[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 오는 4월 4일부터 5월 6일까지 5주간 강원도경찰청은 강원도자치경찰위원회와 함께 강원도민을 대상으로 일상에서 느끼고 있는 교통불편, 사고위험지점에 대한 교통안전시설 개선 아이디어를 공모하여 도민의 눈높이에 맞춘 선제적 교통안전환경 조성을 위한「도민공감! 안심로드 챌린지」공모전을 추진한다고 밝혔다.

그동안 강원경찰은 2019년부터 도내 경찰관서 직원을 대상으로 ‘출퇴근길 교통환경 개선 제안서’를 공모하여 도로 현장에 반영 개선하는, 이른바「더 착한 출퇴근길」공모전을 3회 걸쳐 추진, 우수한 제안을 선발하고 선제적 시설개선으로 교통사고를 예방하는 성과를 도출한 바 있다. 

이번 공모전은 교통소통과 안전에 관심이 있는 도민을 대상으로 참여범위를 확대하여 지역 곳곳의 문제점을 파악하고, 교통사고 발생 이후 대책을 마련하는 사후대처에서 탈피, 교통불편·위험요소를 ‘선제적 발굴·개선하는 능동적 경찰활동’의 일환으로 강원도 중장기 교통안전대책 수립의 초석이 될 예정이다.

제안된 내용은 현장점검 등을 통해 타당성 등 검토 후 시설개선 및 정책에 반영할 예정으로 신호조정 등 즉시 시행 가능한 사항은 신속 개선하고, 대규모 사업 등 중장기 검토가 필요한 제안은 강원도경찰청과 교통관계기관 간 협업하여 공동사업으로 발굴·추진한다.

공모전에 접수된 제안은 사고위험방지성, 실용성 등 평가를 거쳐 우수제안자를 선정·포상할 예정이다.
