[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 17일, 횡성군농업기술센터에서는 실험실 관련 직원 및 종사원 대상으로 화학물질 사고로부터 안전성을 확보하고 각종 안전사고 사전예방을 위해 자체 실험실 안전관리교육을 실시하였다고 밝혔다.

이날 실험실 안전관리 총괄책임자 임종완 소장은 실험실 안전교육 및 현장점검에 직접 참여하여 실험실 작업환경 개선 및 보완사항에 대하여 면밀하게 현장점검하였으며, 향후 분석 종사원의 안전을 최우선으로 하고 쾌적한 실험실 환경을 조성할 수 있도록 실험실 안전관리체계를 정착시킬 계획이라고 전했다.

농경지 토양, 식물체 등 분석으로 촉발성 또는 유해 화학물질을 다루는 실험실 사고는 자칫 큰 인명피해로 이어질 수 있으므로 이에 대한 예방책의 첫 번째는 안전교육이며, 이에, 실험실(분석실) 안전관리 교육을 매달 1회 실시하여 분석 종사원의 사고예방과 안전관리자의 안전불감증을 타파하고자 이번 교육이 추진되었다고 했다. 

임종완 소장은 “토양, 가축 퇴액비, 농산물 등의 농약, 중금속, 유효성분 등을 분석하고 있는 실험실과 종사원의 안전을 위해 지속적인 교육과 시설 개선을 하여 건강한 실험실 분석환경을 조성할 것이다.”라고 밝혔다.
