[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 2월 10일 동두천시는 자발적 평생학습문화를 조성하고 개인과 공동체가 함께 성장할 수 있는 ‘평생학습 동아리 활성화 지원사업’ 대상 25개를 선정했다고 밝혔다.

이번 선정된 학습동아리는 문화예술, 직업능력, 시민참여 등 다양한 분야의 학습동아리가 선정돼 최대 120만 원의 활동비를 지원받는다고 했다.

학습동아리는 공통관심사를 가진 주민들이 자발적으로 구성해 학습, 토론, 사회활동 등을 통해 함께 배우고 성장하는 정기적 학습모임으로, 등록은 성인 5인 이상 인원으로 구성되며, 정해진 학습주제에 대해 토론, 예술활동, 재능기부, 사회봉사 등 배움과 나눔을 실천한다고 했다.

학습동아리는 누구나 수시등록이 가능하고, 등록된 동아리는 평생학습관 동아리방 무료대관 및 평생학습 동아리 활성화 지원 공모사업에 신청할 수 있다고 전했다.

학습동아리 활동은 카페, 공방, 식당, 사무실, 유휴공간 등 활용해 어디서나 학습활동이 가능하고, 또한 개인시설주가 제공하고 있는 ‘우리동네 학습공간’이 27개소 지정되어 있어 활동공간이 부족한 동아리들과 연계하여 운영하고 있다고 했다.

장화자 동두천시 평생교육원장은 “지역 내 학습기반을 두고 자발적으로 활동하는 평생학습 동아리에 도움이 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로 우수한 평생학습 동아리를 지속적으로 발굴 및 지원을 확대하고, 지역 곳곳에서 동아리들이 활동할 수 있는 여건을 조성해 나갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.
