[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 1월 12일 11시 강원도는 평창군, 한국기후변화연구원, 주식회사 피에스텍이 강원도청에서 ‘신재생에너지를 활용한 스마트팜 열원공급을 위한 업무협약’을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 

이번 업무협약은 약 700억원 규모로서 강원도와 평창군, 한국기후변화연구원, 주식회사 피에스텍이 신재생에너지인 수소연료발전소를 건립하여 강원형 첨단 스마트농업단지에 열원 공급 등을 위한 개발과 협력을 주 내용으로 하고 있는 것으로 알려졌다고 했다.  

스마트 농업은 ICT(정보통신기술), IoT(사물인터넷), AI(인공지능) 등 최첨단 4차 산업혁명 기술을 농업에 적용한 데이터 기반의 농업으로서 기존 농부의 경험에 의존하던 전통 농업에서 생산성과 작업 편이성, 병해충 예찰 등을 종합적으로 극대화한 농업이며, 이러한 스마트농업의 보급과 기술 보급 거점 마련을 위해 강원도가 역점적으로 평창군에 조성 중인 사업이라고 했다.  

첨단 스마트 농업단지에는 청년농 육성을 위한 임대형 스마트팜과 미래 농업 기술 확보와 보급을 위한 교육실증팜 등이 조성될 예정이라고 전했다.

수소연료전지는 수소를 이용해 전기 에너지를 만들어내는 무공해에너지로서 석유, 가스 등과 같은 연료에서 추출해낸 수소와 공기 중의 산소를 반응시켜 물과 전기 에너지를 만들어내는 방식으로 기존 터빈발전방식이 아닌 산화 환원 반응을 이용해 전기 에너지를 만들기 때문에 에너지 효율이 높은 것이 특징으로 최근 화석에너지 자원의 고갈과 온난화에 따른 지구 환경위기 시대에 미래 에너지원으로 각광 받고 있다고 했다.

이번 강원도와 협약을 체결하는 평창군은 각종 스마트팜 사업, 그린바이오 산업 등 미래 농업 대응을 위해 스마트 농업 분야 신 사업 도입을 선제적으로 추진해오고 있으며, 한국기후변화연구원은 기후변화 전문연구기관으로 기후 변화에 대한 체계적인 조사, 연구활동을 통하여 국가 에너지 및 기후변화 정책에 기여하고 있고, 강원도 스마트그린터널 구축사업을 통하여 국내 최초로 터널 에너지 절감 사업을 수행한 바 있는 대한민국 대표 에너지⋅기후변화 전문 연구기관이라고 했다.

또한 최문순 강원도지사는“데이터기반의 첨단 농업으로 기존 전통농업의 한계를 극복하고 농업과 전후방 산업과의 협력모델을 발굴하기 위해 최선을 다하겠다.”라고 밝혔다.
