[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 9월 8일 의정부시 녹양동은 녹양동 새마을지도자협의회, 새마을부녀회 주관으로 녹양천 수질 정화를 위해 EM 흙공 던지기와 하천 주변 환경정화 작업을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이날 행사는 녹양동 통장협의회도 참여해 진행하였으며, 녹양천에 던져진 흙공은 하천 바닥의 오염물질을 분해해 수질을 정화시키고 악취 제거에 큰 도움을 줄 것으로 기대하고 있다고 했다. 

유용환 새마을지도자협의회장은 “평소에도 생활 속에서 일회용품 줄이기, 친환경제품 사용하기, 물과 전기 절약하기 등 환경보호를 위해 할 수 있는 것들을 실천하고 있다.”며 “이번 행사를 통해 산책로로 사랑받는 녹양천이 더욱 깨끗해져서 우리 아이들과 주민들이 녹양천 주변과 장미터널을 걸으면서 기분이 좋아지길 바란다.”고 밝혔다.

이미현 녹양동장은 “각종 나눔 활동부터 방역, 마을 대청소, 하천정화 활동까지 따뜻하고 안전한 녹양동을 만드는 데 구석구석 회원들의 손길이 닿지 않는 곳이 없다.”고 밝혔다.
