치매조기검진은 만 60세 이상 시민이면 누구나 무료로 이용할 수 있으며, 치매예방 상담 및 교육도 제공하고, 또한 치매 조기검진을 통한 1차 검사 후 인지저하 등의 결과에 따라 치매예방 프로그램, 치매 진단 검사 및 의료기관 연계 치매감별검사 등  맞춤형 서비스가 제공된다고 했다.

사전예약제는 철저한 방역수칙 준수로 코로나19 감염을 최소화하면서 치매조기검진 서비스를 중단하지 않고 제공하기 위해 운영하게 되었다고 했다.

지난해에는 코로나19로 인하여 치매조기검진 실적이 부진하였으나, 만 60세 이상 어르신 1,380명에 대해 선별검사를 실시하여 치매환자 83명을 발굴해 치료를 연계했다고 했다. 

최용덕 동두천시장은 “치매는 조기에 발견해 적절히 치료할 경우 증상을 개선하거나 중증상태로의 진행을 억제하는 것이 가능하므로 이를 위해서는 조기검진이 가장 중요한 만큼, 만 60세 이상 어르신은 동두천시 치매안심센터에서 치매조기검진 서비스를 꼭 받으시길 당부드린다”고 전했다.
