[장선희 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 5월 12일 의정부시 송산1동 김진수 동장은 이웃주민의 의뢰로 복지사각지대에서 위기를 겪고 있는 가정을 방문하여 적극적인 복지행정을 펼쳐 지역사회에 감동을 주고 있다고 밝혔다.

송산1동에 거주하는 A씨는 뇌병변장애로 거동이 어려웠으나 생활에 지장은 없었고, 몇 주 전 A씨는 낙상으로 부상을 당해 거동을 전혀 할 수 없는 상태가 되었고 배우자와 성인 자녀가 함께 거주하고 있었으나 경제적인 부담으로 병원에 가지 못해 방치된 상태였다고 했다.

송산1동 보건복지팀은 즉시 가정에 방문해 초기상담을 진행하고 응급실로 이송해 긴급 수술을 받을 수 있도록 조치했으며, 또한 긴급사례회의를 실시하여 집중사례관리 대상자로 선정하여 추가 지원 가능한 부분에 대해 논의하고 연계 가능한 자원 탐색에 총력을 기울이고 있다고 말했다.

A씨의 자녀는 "병간호를 해야 해서 구직활동도 할 수 없고 공과금과 생활비로 인한 부채가 점점 늘어 희망이 없었고 좌절한 상태였다. 집이 자가여서 복지혜택은 전혀 받을 수 없는 줄 알고 시도조차 안했는데 담당공무원의 방문이 한줄기 빛처럼 느껴지고 혼자가 아니라는 생각이 들어 감사하다”고 말했다.
