[김준호 기자 = 동해시] 동해시(시장 심규언)는 오는 11월 9일~ 20일까지 12일간 동해체육관과 국민체육센터에서 제74회 세계3쿠션당구선수권 및 동트는동해배 전국당구대회를 개최한다.

제74회 세계3쿠션당구선수권은 지난 2014년 제67회 서울대회 이후로 8년만에 국내에서 개최하는 대회로 세계 탑 랭커들을 모두 만나볼 수 있다.

이번 대회 참가에 세계 랭킹 1위 딕 야스퍼스(네덜란드), 2022년 서울 세계3쿠션당구월드컵 우승자인 세계랭킹 2위 다니엘 산체스(스페인), 2014년 서울대회 준우승자인 세계랭킹 8위 토브욘 브롬달(스웨덴)을 비롯한 24개국 48명이 출전한다. 

국내 선수로는 10개월 만에 국내 랭킹 1위 자리를 탈환한 김행직(세계랭킹 12위)과 2021 베겔 세계3쿠션월드컵 준우승 허정환(세계링킹 14위), 제103회 전국체육대회 우승자 김준태(세계랭킹 15위), 제67회 세계3쿠션당구선수권대회에서 대한민국 선수로는 최초로 우승을 차지한 최성원(세계링킹 17위) 등 4명이 본선 시드권을 획득하였다.

대륙별 출전권을 통해 세계랭킹 순으로 조명우(세계랭킹 19위)와 이충복(세계링킹 23위), 개최국 와일드카드로 서창훈(세계랭킹 28위)과 황봉주(세계링킹 59위) 등 총 8명이 출전하게 된다.

이번 세계3쿠션당구선수권대회는 세계캐롬연맹(UMB)의 경기 규정에 따라 예선과 본선 16강 토너먼트를 거쳐 11월 13일 최종 우승자를 가리게 된다.

한편, 세계대회에 이어, 2022 동트는동해배 전국당구대회와 2022 전국생활체육대축전 당구대회가 같은 장소에서 11월 12일부터 20일까지 개최된다. 

2022 동트는 동해배 전국당구대회는 전문체육과 생활체육으로 구분하여 개최되며, 전문체육은 (사)대한당구연맹을 통해, 생활체육은 KBF NOW 어플을 통해 참가할 수 있다.

이선우 체육교육과장은“수많은 동호인들을 보유한 스포츠인 당구대회가 지역경제에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 기대”한다며, “성공적인 대회로 거듭날 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 전했다.
