[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 포천시는 한탄강 유네스코 세계지질공원의 체험교육 및 지역활성화를 도모하기 위해 지역협력단체인 한탄강 지오아카데미, 포천관광두레협의회와 지난 20일에 업무협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

지질공원제도는 지역의 우수한 지질을 비롯해 생태와 역사문화를 보전하고 관광 자원으로 활용하는 지역활성화 프로그램으로, 한탄강은 국제적 가치를 인정받아 2020년 7월 유네스코로부터 세계지질공원으로 인증받았다고 전했다.

이번 업무 협약은 한탄강 유네스코 세계지질공원의 다양한 관광 상품 개발과 육성을 위해 관내 협력업체와 실시한 협약식으로, 박윤국 포천시장과 한탄강 지오아카데미 이경옥 대표, 포천 관광두레협의회 김보람 대표를 비롯해 관광산업과장, 한탄강사업소장 등이 함께했다고 했다.

‘한탄강 지오아카데미’는 교육프로그램 운영을 위한 지역공동체 협의체로 한탄강 발전을 위해 다수의 봉사활동과 한탄강 체험교육 프로그램 개발을 위해 노력하고 있으며 지질을 비롯해 생태, 예술, 공예 등 다양한 방면의 한탄강 특화 프로그램 개발과 운영할 예정이라고 했다.

‘포천 관광두레협의회’는 문화체육부 지원을 받아 포천 관광두레로 선발되어 양성된 주민사업체로 한탄강에 특화된 지질 관련 관광상품개발을 완료하고, 한탄강 세계지질공원의 주요 명소인 비둘기낭 폭포에서 상품을 판매할 계획이라고 했다.

체결한 협약서에는 한탄강 세계지질공원의 지역발전을 위해 체험교육 프로그램을 운영하며, 지역주민 및 관내 학생의 역량 강화를 위한 교육프로그램을 개발하고, 포천 한탄강 유네스코 세계지질공원 브랜드를 활용한 관광상품 개발을 판매한다는 내용이 포함됐다고 했다.

앞으로 포천시와 지역협력단체가 함께 프로그램을 개발과 운영에 적극적으로 협력하며, 지역경제 활성화에 이바지하도록 노력할 계획이라고 전했다.
