[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 의정부을지대학교병원이 만성골수성백혈병 극복을 위해 결성된 ‘루 산우회’와 따뜻한 동행을 시작한다고 밝혔다. 

3월 17일, 의정부을지대학교병원은 만성골수성백혈병 환자와 가족의 참여로 결집된 산악동호회인 ‘루 산우회’와 협약을 체결했으며, 이번 협약을 통해 양 기관은 만성골수성백혈병 등 혈액질환으로 투병 중인 어려운 환자를 위해 기부금 전달을 진행한다고 전했다. 

기부금은 백혈병 치료를 받으며 경제적 어려움을 겪고 있는 동료 환우들의 치료를 위해 쓰일 예정이고, 특히 루 산우회는 이번 기부를 시작으로 의정부을지대병원에 매년 500만원의 정기 후원을 이어갈 계획이라고 했다. 

김병식 원장은 “혈액종양내과 김동욱 교수와 오랜 인연을 맺어 온 환자와 가족분들의 뜻깊은 선행에 깊은 감사의 말씀을 드린다”며 “전달받은 기부금은 경제적 어려움을 겪는 백혈병 환우들의 치료와 삶의 질 개선을 위해 소중히 사용될 것”이라고 밝혔다.

루 산우회(山友會)는 지난 2005년 5월 만성골수성백혈병을 슬기롭게 극복하기 위해 환우들과 그 가족들로 결성된 모임으로, 현재 약 2천여 명에 육박하는 회원들이 서울, 경기, 강원, 충청, 전라, 경상, 제주 등 지역별 지회를 갖췄으며, 매년 5월말 1박2일 캠프와 9월 22일 ‘만성골수성백혈병의 날’ 행사를 진행하고, 만성골수병백혈병 분야의 세계적 권위자인 김동욱 교수의 학술세미나를 비롯해 필리핀 꽃동네, 동료 환우 치료비 지원 등 환우들의 기부금으로 동료 환우들을 돕는 국내 대표적인 환우 단체이라고 전했다.
