환경부와 한국전자제품자원순환공제조합은 매년 전국 지자체를 대상으로 폐가전제품 무상방문 수거 실적, 집하장 운영, 홍보활동, 사업운영 노력도 등을 종합적으로 평가하여 우수지자체를 선정하고 있으며, 강릉시는 작년 종합우수상에 이어 올해 종합대상을 수상하여 전국최초 2년 연속 종합상 수상에 기염을 토했다고 했다. 

강릉시는 적극적인 홍보활동과 어린이집, 학교, 관공서의 찾아가는 교육서비스 그리고 집하장의 시설 개선 등에 높은 평가점수를 받았다고 전했다.

폐가전제품 무상방문수거 서비스는 인터넷과 콜센터를 통해 배출예약을 하면 수거차량이 각 가정을 방문하여 무상으로 수거하는 서비스로 시민들의 폐기물 배출 불편을 해소하고 가전제품의 재활용 처리 향상에 기여하고 있는 사업이라고 했다.
