[서종협 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동해시(시장 심규언)는 전기자동차충전시설 확충으로 전기차를  이용하는 시민과 관광객의 수요 증가에 따라 주요 관광지를 중심으로 충전시설을 확충한다고 밝혔다.  

따라서, 시는 예산상황을 고려하여 관광지별 우선순위에 따라 단계별로 추진할 계획으로, 총 4억 8천여만원을 투입하여 완속충전시설 27개, 급속충전시설 9개 등 36개를 설치하여 전기차 운전자의 불편을 최소화하고 충전편의를 제공한다는 방침이다.

먼저, 무릉계곡 관광지에 급속충전기 1대, 완속충전기 9대 설치를 시작으로, 망상·추암지역에 10대, 무릉별유천지 11대, 천곡황금박쥐동굴 2대 등 주요 관광지 5개소에 설치할 계획이다.

이에 앞서, 시에서는 환경 친화적 전기차 보급 확대를 위한 차량보조금 지원과 함께 2020년부터 현재까지 총 249대의 전기차를 보급해오고 있으며, 저탄소, 친환경, 기후변화와 환경위기에 선제적으로 대응해  나가고 있다.

한편, 환경친화적 자동차의 개발 및 촉진에 관한 법률 개정 시행(2022.1.28.)으로 주차단위구역 50개 이상 갖춘 공공건물 등을 대상으로 공공건물 등에 친환경자동차 충전시설 및 전용주차구역을 설치하게 되어  있으며 전용주차구역의 경우, 총 주차대수의 5%, 충전시설은 총 주차대수의 2%이며, 급속충전시설은 충전시설의 10%로 구성하게 되어 있다.

이인섭 관광개발과장은 “이번 무릉계곡 전기차 충전시설 확충을  통해 관광객의 편의 제공은 물론 미세먼지 저감과 기후변화위기 대응에  만전을 기하겠다”고 말했다.
