이날 태백시장은 매봉산지구 가뭄을 해결하고자 설치한 관정 2개소, 저수조 3개소(500톤), 급수대 8개소, 7km의 송·급수관로 등 용수시설을 점검하고 광동댐을 통해 태백권(삼척,정선,영월)에 약 70,000㎥/일 용수를 공급하고 있는 수자원공사 태백관리공단을 방문해 영농기 용수공급에 차질이 없도록 만전을 기해줄 것을 당부했다고 했다.

또한, 배추재배 주산지인 매봉산 채소단지, 산나물 수확 현장 조탄산채단지, 조탄마을, 농가 등을 방문해 영농현장의 애로사항과 건의사항을 청취하는 등 소통의 시간을 가졌다고 전했다.

태백시장은 “앞으로 가뭄을 대비해 저수조 농업용수 공급, 배수로 양수 장비·시설 점검과 영농현장 기술지원 강화 등으로 농작물 피해가 발생하지 않도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
