[김준호 기자=강원남부] 이상호 태백시장의 모친상 부고장이 뒤늦게 시민과 사회단체들 사이에서 최근 논란이 확대되고 있다.

지난해 12월 초 모친상을 치렀던 이상호 강원 태백시장이 당시 부고 메시지를 카카오톡 등 SNS를 통해 지역 주민 상당수에 전달됐다. 

부고장에는 상주인 이상호시장의 이름, 빈소 정보 등을 비롯해 코로나19 상황으로 인해 조문이 쉽지 않기에 불가피하게 계좌를 알려드린다는 취지의 내용과 계좌 정보가 포함됐다.

태백시장 비서실에서 태백시민들에게 고의로 무작위 발송을 하지는 않았겠지만, 부고장을 받은 태백시민들은 조문을 가야할지 말아야 할지 고민하고 불편했것이다. 

현직 태백시장의 부고장이 태백시민들에게 무작위로 발송된 것도 문제지만, 부고장에 조의금을 보낼 시장 명의 은행 계좌번호를 버젓이 넣는 것은 매우 부적절했다는 여론이 일고 있다.

하지만, 이상호 태백시장은 모친상을 정치적으로 이용한 음해라고 주장하고 나서 더 논란을 부추키고 있다는 지적이 나오고 있다.

한편, 시민 A씨는 "부고장을 무작위로 발송한 것도 문제지만, 조의금을 보낼 시장 명의 은행 계좌번호를 버젓이 넣어 당황스러웠고, 무작위로 부고장을 발송한 것은 명백한 개인정보보호법(공무원 행동강령 제17조경조사의 통지 제한)위반이다."고 말했다.
