[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 2월 21일, 홍천군은 홍천군수 집무실에서 (재)스크립스코리아항체연구원과 ‘홍천 도시첨단산업단지 입주협약’을 체결한다고 밝혔다. 

이번 입주협약은 현재 지정 추진 중인 홍천 도시첨단산업단지 내 400여평 규모의 부지에 신·변종 감염병 연구를 위한 미래감염병 신속대응 연구센터를 구축하기 위한 것으로, 미래감염병 신속대응 연구센터는 국비를 포함한 약70억원의 사업비가 투입되며 오는 2023년 준공을 완료할 계획이라고 전했다. 

스크립스코리아항체연구원은 지난 2009년에 설립된 항체 기반 기술 및 신약개발에 특화된 국내 유일의 공익 연구기관으로 현재까지 4건, 총271억원의 항체치료제 기술이전 계약을 체결하였고, 국내 바이오벤처기업을 대상으로 하는  맞춤형 항체스크리닝 서비스 및 동물실험 서비스를 시행하고 있으며, 또한, 코로나 변이바이러스인 델타, 오미크론을 치료하는 후보항체 확보 등 감염병질환 치료, 항암치료, 혁신항체 플랫폼 개발 파이프라인을 구축하여 바이오산업발전과 지역경제 활성화에 기여하고 있다고 했다.  

홍천군은 현재 홍천 도시첨단산업단지에 총사업비 500억원을 투자해 홍천 국가항체 클러스터 조성사업을 추진하고 있으며 홍천 국가항체 클러스터에는 미래감염병 신속대응 연구센터를 비롯하여 중화항체 치료제 개발지원센터, 면역항체 치료소재 개발지원센터가 구축될 예정이라고 밝혔다. 

최진섭 스크립스코리아항체연구원장은 “홍천군과의 이번 입주협약을 통해 홍천 국가항체 클러스터가 국가 거점 클러스터로 자리매김 할 것으로 기대한다”며, “미래 감염병 신속대응 연구센터를 조기에 완공하여 감염병 분야 연구개발 고도화 및 기업지원 서비스 확대 등 기술핵심 연구기관으로서 그 힘을 보태겠다”고 답했다.

허필홍 홍천군수는 “코로나19로 힘든 상황에서 항체 연구개발을 선도하는 스크립스코리아항체연구원과 입주협약을 체결하게 되어 기쁘게 생각한다”며 “이번 협약으로 홍천 국가항체 클러스터 조성이 본격화할 것으로 기대되며, 미래감염병 신속대응 연구센터가 조속히 구축될 수 있도록 최대한 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 말했다.
