[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 12월 10일 강원도는 (사)대한수의사회에서 재난형 전염병 예방과 전파 차단 등 동물방역 업무에 전념하여 동물 건강증진, 축산업 발전과 공중보건 향상에 지대한 공로가 있는 공무원 수의사의 노고를 치하하고자 제정한 “제1회 대한민국 동물방역수의사대상”에서 서종억 동물방역과장이 영예의 “대상” 수상자로 선정됐다고 밝혔다.   

서종억 과장은 ①국가직, ②시⸱도, ③시⸱군⸱구 부문으로 구분 평가한 이번 심사에서 포상심사위원회로부터 ①차별화된 방역정책으로 재난형 전염병 완벽대응, ②축산농가와 도민 입장에서 열린정책 실현, ③수의직 공무원 처우개선 노력, ④수의사회와의 협력 등에서 높은 점수를 받아 시도 부문 “대상” 수상자로 선정됐다고 했다.

특히, 아프리카돼지열병 차단방역에 헌신하여 농식품부 주관 전국 가축방역 평가에서 2년 연속 수상(‘20년 ’최우수‘, ’21년 ‘우수’)한 역량과 성과를 인정받았으며, 오는 12월 28일 경기도 성남시 분당구에 위치한 대한수의사회관에서 열리는 시상식에서 상패와 함께 시상금(3백만원)을 전수받을 예정이라고 했다.
