[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 7일, 동두천시도시재생지원센터는 고양시 삼송도시재생현장지원센터와 도시재생지원센터에서 도시재생사업의 성공적 추진을 위한 상생협력협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

양 기관은 이번 협력협약을 통해 상호발전을 도모하고, 지역경제 활성화 및 도시재생사업 우수사례를 공유하며, 지속적인 발전을 위한 협력적 네트워크를 구축하기로 의견을 모았다고 했다. 

동두천시는 2020년 소규모 재생사업에 선정되어 쇠퇴화가 진행되는 지역에 새로운 활력을 불어넣는 사업을 추진하였고, 더불어 지난 9월 30일 국토부 도시재생 뉴딜사업에 선정되어 원도심 활성화를 위한 도시재생사업의 본격 추진을 앞두고 다양한 노력을 기울이고 있다고 했다. 

김현철 동두천도시재생지원센터장은 “동두천시의 대표적인 원도심 지역인 생연·중앙동의 도시재생 뉴딜사업이 추진을 앞두고 있는 만큼, 오늘 맺은 협력협약과 같은 네트워크를 기반으로 다른 지역과는 차별화된 재생사업을 추진할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
