[장선희 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 6월5일 의정부시청소년재단은 지속가능한 청소년 미래 환경을 위해 환경의 날을 기념하여 6월 한 달간 청소년, 임·직원과 함께 다양한 환경운동을 펼쳤다고 밝혔다. 

청소년들은 환경보전 연합 캠페인, 플로킹을 통한 쓰레기 줍기활동, 땅 속 플라스틱 제거 등 지구 살리기 환경정화 활동을 진행했으며, 재단 임·직원은 환경을 지키는데 앞장서고자 저탄소 생활 실천 서약, 플라스틱 줄이기 캠페인에 동참하고 기후변화 주간을 운영하는 등 환경보호를 위한 활동을 실천하고 있다고 했다.

지난 6월5일 의정부시청소년수련관 환경위원회는 전국 최초로 타 지역 청소년수련시설과 연합하여 서울시 종로구 일본국 대사관 앞에서 서울시립문래청소년센터, 남양주시청소년수련관 청소년들과 함께 환경의 날 기념 연합 캠페인을 진행했고, 주변 생물과 함께 더불어 살아갈 수 있도록 깨끗하고 안전한 세상을 만들자는 취지였다고 말했다. 

이에 따라 일본국 대사관 앞에서 총 42명의 청소년이 상업적인 돌고래 사냥을 멈춰 돌고래의 자유보장, 원전 오염수 해양방류 반대, 탄소를 낮추고 지속가능성을 높이자 등 피켓을 통해 목소리를 전달하는 활동을 진행했다고 했다. 

캠페인에 참여한 청소년은 “해외에 비해 환경 문제에 대한 관심과 개선 노력이 부족한 실정이지만, 우리의 작은 활동이 쌓여 가면 시민들도 환경문제에 관심을 가질 것”이라며 “지속적으로 환경보전에 대해 목소리를 내는 청소년이 되겠다.”며 당찬 포부를 밝혔다.

의정부시흥선청소년문화의집은 15명의 청소년과 함께 지난 6월5일 환경의 날을 맞아 백석천-중랑천 일대에서 ‘지구를 위한 발걸음 플로킹’이라는 주제로 하천을 걸으며 환경정화 쓰레기 줍기 운동을 진행했고, 그리고 지난 6월 19일에는 20명의 청소년이 ‘우리동네 하천지킴이’ 활동을 이어갔고, 코로나19로 인하여 비대면 EM 흙공 제작 강의 수강, 개인별 미션활동으로 하천에 EM 흙공 던지기 활동 등을 펼쳤다고 했다.
