이를 통해 새마을금고의 대표적 사회공헌활동인 '사랑의 좀도리 운동'은 옛 사람들이 어려운 가정생활 속 이웃들과 사랑을 나누던 전통을 기반으로 재탄생 되었다고 전했졌다.

동두천시는 이날 전달된 백미는 대한노인회동두천시지회, 자원봉사센터, 새마을운동동두천시지회 등 3개 단체와 관내 8개 동을 통하여 취약계층에게 지원될 예정이라고 밝혔다.

 동두천시장은 “매년 사랑의 좀도리 운동을 통해 취약계층에게 꾸준히 관심을 가져주셔서 감사드린다. 기부된 물품은 도움이 필요한 분들에게 잘 전달하겠다.”고 감사를 표했다.
