[김준호 기자 = 정선군] 정선군은 17일, 올림픽국가정원 조성을 통한 아시아올림픽아카데미(AOA) 설립을 위해 정선군과 아시아올림픽평의회(OCA)는 서울 글래드호텔 프로젝트홀에서 업무협의회를 개최했다.

이날 업무협의회에서 정선군과 OCA는 국제적인 스포츠전문가 양성에 중추적인 역할을 할 아시아올림픽아카데미(AOA) 설립을 올림픽 국가정원 조성을 통해 공동으로 추진하는 협력체계를 구축을 위한 협약(MOU)을 체결하고 이행하기로 하였다.

이날 업무협의회에는 아시아올림픽평의회(OCA) 알 무살람(Hon.Dr. Husain A H Z AL-MUSALLAM) 사무총장(Director General & Technical Director) 및 유승민 IOC 위원, 박주희 국제올림픽아카데미(IOA) 과학위원이 참석했고 정선군에서는 최승준 군수를 비롯해 실무 그룹이 참석했으며, 그밖에 김병준 국민대 대외협력처장, 강연흥 국제스포츠전략위원회 연구소장 등 관계자들도 동석했다.

한편 이날 업무협의회와 함께 ‘아시아올림픽아카데미 설립 추진단’ 발족식도 함께 열려 박주희 국제올림픽아카데미 과학위원(올림픽 국가정원 스포츠인 추진위원회 공동대표)을 추진단장으로 위촉하고 본격적인 활동에 돌입하였다. 

최승준 정선군수는 “올림픽 국가정원 조성을 통해 아시아 최초의 국제인증 올림픽스포츠전문교육기관을 설립하는 것은 강원도에서 국제기구를 유치하는 것일 뿐 아니라 대한민국 국가브랜드 강화에도 크게 기여할 것”이라고 평가했다.

또한, “아시아 45개국이 회원국으로 아시아의 모든 스포츠를 관리하고 아시안게임을 주관하는 IOC승인 국제기구인 아시아올림픽평의회 역점사업인 아시아올림픽아카데미가 올림픽 국가정원에 설립된다면, 아시아 45개국에 대한 관광홍보 효과도 커 강원도 관광산업에도 일대 전환점을 마련하게 될 것 ”이라며 의지를 표명했다.
