[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동두천시는 코로나19로 어려운 지역작가들의 생계를 지원하고, 지역의 장소성을 반영한 공공미술 작품 제작을 통해 문화예술도시로 거듭나려는 목적으로 '2022 동두천 공공미술 프로젝트'를 추진한다고 밝혔다.

올해는 '경기도 공공미술 프로젝트'에 참여하여 도비 6천만 원을 지원받아 총 2억 원의 예산으로 실시하며, 지난 2021년에 비해 예산이 2배 증액되었다는 점에서 지역 예술 발전을 위한 동두천시의 노력을 확인할 수 있다고 했다. 

또한 지역작가의 범위를 동두천 거주 작가뿐 아니라 지역 소재 학교를 졸업한 미술인으로 확대한 점도 지난 2021년과 달라진 점이라고 했다. 

2022년 동두천 공공미술 프로젝트 수행 작가팀은 한 프로젝트당 2명 이상의 작가로 구성되어야 하며, 공고문에 제시된 8개 장소 중 1개소를 선정하여 시민참여 방법, 구체적 작품계획을 작성해 지원하면 되고, 2단계 심사를 통해 총 4~5개 프로젝트를 선정할 계획이며, 한 개 프로젝트 당 최대 5천만 원까지 지원한다고 전했다. 

지난 2월 18일, 동두천시 홈페이지를 통해 공모를 시작했으며, 오는 3월 14일부터 18일까지 담당자 이메일로 접수를 받으며, 기타 자세한 내용은 동두천시 홈페이지와 문화체육과 문화예술팀으로 문의하면 된다고 했다.
