[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동두천시는 매주 목요일 야간 여권 발급의 날을 운영한다고 밝혔다.

동두천시 야간 여권 발급은 지역사회에 코로나19 확진자가 갑자기 확산되던 작년 3월부터 11월까지 운영을 중단했으나, 차세대 전자 여권 발급 시기에 맞춰 작년 12월부터 재개했다고 전했다.

차세대 전자 여권은 표지 색상이 기존 녹색에서 남색으로 변경됐으며, 표지 안쪽 면은 태극문양, 불국사 석가탑 등 우리나라 문화유산 이미지로 디자인 됐고, 또한 종이 재질이던 개인정보 면이 폴리카보네이트 재질로 바뀌었으며, 주민등록번호 대신 생년월일만 표기하는 등 개인정보 보안 요소가 강화됐다고 했다.

전자 여권 발급 신청은 전국 어디서나 발급 신청이 가능하며, 동두천시는 시청 민원실에서 신청할 수 있고, 매주 목요일 오후 8시까지 직장인들의 편의를 위해 야간 여권 민원 창구를 운영하고 있다고 밝혔다.
