[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 양주시 회천3동은 여름철 집중호우와 태풍 등 자연재해로부터 인명과 재산 피해를 최소화하기 위해 구거 및 배수로 정비에 나섰다고 밝혔다.

이번 정비작업은 구거 및 배수로에 퇴적된 토사와 수초 등을 제거해 침수 위험이 높은 지역의 통수단면을 확보하고 안전사고를 예방하기 위해 추진했다고 했다.

회천3동은 지난 16일부터 덤프, 굴삭기 등 장비를 사용하여 퇴적물 등을 제거했으며 특히 장비 사용이 힘든 구역은 인력을 동원하여 정비를 완료해 호우피해 사전 예방에 만전을 기했다고 전했다. 

박혜련 동장은 “이번 정비는 자연재해로부터 인명과 재산을 보호하기 위해 해마다 선제적으로 실시해오고 있다”며 “우기철에 발생하는 재해 위험요소를 지속적으로 사전에 제거해 사고를 예방할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
