[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 25일 포천시는 6․25 참전유공자들의 희생과 헌신을 국민과 함께 기억하고 감사하는 ‘6․25전쟁 71주년 행사’를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 행사에는 박윤국 포천시장을 비롯해 임석환 6․25참전유공자회 회장, 포천시의회 의장 직무대리 송상국 부의장, 최춘식 국회의원, 시의원, 보훈단체장, 6.25참전유공자회 읍면동분회장 및 임원 등 50여명이 참석한 가운데, 국민의례, 표창 수여, 인사말씀, 결의문 낭독, 6․25 노래 제창 순으로 진행됐으며, 보훈지원 유공자 표창은 제6군단 군수참모처 이호범 상사 등 10명이 수상했다고 했다.

임석환 포천시 6․25참전유공자회 회장은 “이 자리를 마련해 준 포천시에 감사의 인사를 드리며, 앞으로도 포천시와 소통을 통해 6․25 참전유공자의 예우 및 증진을 위해 함께 노력하겠다.”고 말했다.

박윤국 포천시장은 “조국수호와 자유민주주의를 지키기 위해 희생하신 호국영령들의 숭고한 정신에 삼가 머리 숙여 경의를 표한다.”라며 “나라와 국민을 위한 희생과 헌신을 반드시 기억하고 그에 따른 합당한 예우를 기본과 원칙으로 하는 포천을 만들어 가겠다.”고 말했다.

한편, 포천시는 국가유공자의 예우를 강화하기 위해 국가보훈대상자에게 기존 7만원을 지급하던 보훈명예수당을 보훈 및 참전명예수당으로 구분하여 월 10만 원으로 인상하였고, 사망한 참전유공자의 배우자 지원을 위해 월 5만원씩 지급하는 참전유공자 배우자 수당과 독립유공자 및 유족의 예우를 위한 월 20만원의 독립유공자 수당을 신설했으며, 또한, 9개의 보훈단체에 운영비 및 사업비를 지원하며 보훈단체회원 간 화합과 단체 활성화에 기여하고 있다고 전했다.
