[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부] 3일 경기도의회 건설교통위원회 김종배 도의원은 시흥시 정왕동 소재 시흥천 개선사업 특별조정교부금 10억 원을 확보했다고 밝혔다.

시흥천 개선사업은 시흥시 외곽4교에서 희망동산까지(정왕동 2154 ~ 2155) 총연장 2.5㎞ 구간에 산책로 조성과 통행로 설치 공사로서 총 19억 원의 예산이 소요되며, 그 중 경기도가 10억 원을 시흥시에 교부하게 된다고 했다.

김종배 의원은 건설교통위원회 위원으로서 그동안 지역주민들의 각종 편의시설에 대한 요구가 있어 시흥천 개선 사업을 지속적으로 건의하였고, 그 결과 특별조정교부금 10억 원을 확보할 수 있었다고 말했다.

김종배 의원은 “시흥천 정비사업으로 산책로 및 자전거도로가 조성된다면 인근에 야구장· 축구장이 있는 정왕동 체육공원과 이어져 지역주민의 접근성이 높아질 것”이라며 “이번 특별조정교부금을 통해 시흥시민의 삶의 질 향상이 기대된다”고 말했다. 이어 “앞으로도 생활SOC 관련된 예산 확보를 위하여 지속적으로 건의하여  시민의 의견이 수렴·반영할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

아울러 시흥천 개선사업은 올해 연말까지 설계용역을 시작으로 산책로 조성, 보행목교 3개소 설치, 하천준설 및 정비, 교량 낙차분수 설치, 조명·CCTV 설치공사가 진행된다고 전했다.
