가평군은 올해 먹거리 종합계획으로 관내 학교급식 공급을 확대 추진하고 있으며, 기존 22개 초․중․고등학교에서 병설유치원 13개소를 추가 지원하는 등 더 많은 학생들이 지역먹거리를 쉽게 접할 수 있는 기회를 마련하고 있다.

또 급식품목도 사과즙, 포도즙, 조청, 딸기, 사과, 포도 등 6가지에서 쌀빵(잣마들렌, 잣만주)을 추가해 총 7개 먹거리를 공급함으로써 급식의 질을 향상시키고 농가의 안정적인 소득증대에 이바지 하고 있다. 

학교급식 지원사업은 전액 군비로 8천여만 원이 소요되는 가운데 교사 및 학생들은 신선하고 우수한 먹거리를 군에서 지원해 믿을 수 있고 품목도 확대되면서 만족감을 드러내고 있다.

이와 함께 군은 품목별 농가조직화, 지역먹거리 연중생산기반 비닐하우스 지원, 저온체계 구축사업 추진 등 1년 내내 기획생산체계를 마련하고 농협하나로마트 내 로컬매장 운영과 복지급식을 현금에서 현물지원방식으로 일부 전환하고 마을 및 지역공동체 소규모 가공시설 지원 등 관계시장 확보 및 지역가공 활성화를 도모하고 있다.
