장영신 회장은 “2050 탄소중립을 실현하는 사업에 우리 새마을이 중추적 역할을 수행하게 되어 매우 기쁘고, 새마을이 모범적으로 지역의 깨끗한 환경을 만들고 지켜나가는 노력하겠다”고 전했다. 

자원봉사센터 경기도보조금 지원사업 ‘어쩌다, 우리동네 환경지킴이’ 사업은 새마을운동 동두천시지회와 협력하여, 8개 동 새마을남녀지도자가 동시 다발적으로 2050 탄소중립 홍보부스 운영 및 캠페인 활동, 취약계층 대상 분리수거 활동, 지역 환경정화활동을 10월까지 실시하며, 시민에게 탄소중립 실천의 중요성을 홍보하고, 올바른 분리수거와 환경정화활동을 통해 지역의 환경을 수호하는 환경지킴이로서 안내자 역할을 수행하게 된다고 말했다.
