[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동두천시 중앙동 새마을협의회는 자원봉사센터 공모지원사업 중 ‘어쩌다, 우리동네 환경지킴이’사업에 협력하여 주거취약계층 대상으로 분리수거함 설치에 앞장섰다고 밝혔다. 

해당 사업은 자원봉사센터의 경기도 보조금 지원사업으로 중앙동 내 추천받은 5가구를 매달 1가구씩 지원하여 지난 6월부터 10월까지 총 5개월 간 실시하였고, 또한 새마을협의회 위원들이 추천 대상자의 가구를 가가호호 방문하여 분리수거함 설치뿐만 아니라 분리 배출 방법까지 상세하게 알려주었다고 했다.

차유철 새마을협의회장은 “분리수거함 설치를 지원하여 중앙동의 깨끗한 마을 환경 조성에 기여할 수 있어서 기쁘다”고 말했다.

이춘우 중앙동장은 “작은 시도이지만, 각 가정의 환경개선 인식이 널리 확산되는 계기가 되길 바란다”고 밝혔다.
