이날 심사위원회에서는 총 3개 부문에서 수상자를 확정했는데 애향봉사장에 이순남 씨(66세 여), 향토발전장에 이건식 씨(64세 남), 문화예술장에 전순선 씨(66세 여)가 각각 선정됐다.

『시민의 장』은 동두천시의 명예를 높이고 지역사회 발전에 크게 공헌한 시민에게 긍지와 영예를 부여하기 위해 1989년에 처음 제정되어 지난해까지 총 33회에 걸쳐 158명의 「시민의 장」 수상자를 배출했다.

올해는 5개부문 16명의 후보자가 열띤 경합을 벌였으며 효행선행장 및 체육진흥장은 수상자가 나오지 않았다.
