[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 환경부 원주지방환경청은 지역 및 하천 특성을 고려, 국가하천 원주천의 하천재해 예방을 위해  ｢원주천(학성지구) 하천재해 예방사업 실시설계｣에 대한 주민설명회를 오는 5월 10일 오후 14시부터 원주시 학성동 행정복지센터에서 개최한다고 밝혔다.

원주천(학성지구) 하천재해 예방사업은 상위계획인 원주천 하천기본계획 등에 따라 공사 시행을 위해 실시설계용역을 진행 중이며, 최근 이상기후에 따른 홍수피해방지를 위한 저류지 및 제방보강(L=2.3㎞)을 계획했고, 저류지는 재해예방 뿐만 아니라 평소에는 주민들이 여가를 즐길 수 있도록 친수공간으로 조성될 예정이라고 했다.

본 사업은 약 1,500억원의 사업비가 투입될 예정으로 2023년 초 착공을 목표로 하여 2026년 12월 완공할 계획이며, 이창흠 청장은 본 사업이 완료되면 지역주민의 생활 만족도 향상 및 경제 활성화는 물론, 삶의 질 증대에도 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대되는 만큼 지역주민의 많은 관심과 협조를 당부했다.
