[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 김동연 더불어민주당 경기도지사 예비후보가 화성 백미리 어촌계와 용인 중앙시장을 잇따라 방문하며 ‘민생 소통 행보’를 이어 나갔다고 전했다.

김 후보는 2곳의 민생 현장 방문에서 ‘전관예우’ 영입 시도를 피하기 위해 전국을 돌아다니다 정치를 결심하게 된 계기에 대해 소개하는 한편 이재명 前 경기도지사의 핵심 정책인 경기지역화폐 활성화해 나가겠다는 구상을 밝혔다.

김 후보는 25일 오전 10시 화성 백미리에 위치한 어촌체험마을에서 주민들과 간담회를 갖고 어촌계의 현실과 귀어 청년들의 어려움을 청취했다고 전했다.

김 후보는 간담회를 마친 뒤 자신의 SNS에 ‘정치하는 이유를 되새겨 봅니다’라는 제목의 글을 게재하고, 전관예우 차원의 영입시도를 피하기 위해 전국을 다니며 농업인, 어업인, 소상공인, 자영업자 등 다양한 계층의 국민을 만났던 경험에 대해 소개했다고 했다.

김 후보는 “‘나라가 국민을 걱정하는 게 아니라, 국민이 나라를 걱정한다’는 어느 자영업자분의 말씀을 그때 들었다. 나라를 걱정하고 기회가 부족한 국민들을 걱정하는 우리 이웃들의 마음이었습니다. 제가 정치를 결심한 계기”라며 “화성시의 성장통을 해결하며 어민들에게도 더 만흔 기회가 고르게 열릴 수 있도록 꼼꼼하게 정책을 마련하겠다”고 강조했다.

이어 오후에는 경기 남부권 최대 5일장 중 한곳인 용인시장을 방문해 도민들과 소통하는 한편 용인중앙시장 상인회 임원진과 오찬 간담회를 가졌다고 했다.

김 후보는 용인시장을 둘러본 뒤 자신의 SNS에 ‘경기지역화폐 활성화로 골목상권과 전통시장을 살리겠습니다’라는 제목의 글을 게재하고, 경기지역화폐를 덩욱 확대해 나가겠다는 의지를 드러냈다고 전했다.

김 후보는 “많은 상인분들이 경기지역화폐의 경제적 효과를 체감하고 있었다. 지역화폐를 발행한 이후에 새로운 고객이 눈에 띄게 늘었다고 말했다”라며 “전통시장과 골목상권, 지역경제를 살리는데 톡톡한 역할을 하고 있다. 행정과 정치가 도민의 삶을 개선하는데 얼마나 유용한 도구가 되는지 확인했다”고 주장했다.

이어 “당선되면 경기지역화폐를 더욱 활성화시키겠다”라며 “일 잘하는 김동연이 지역 경제가 살아나는 변화의 중심 경기도를 만들겠다”고 덧붙였다.
