[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 15일, 가평군은 제103주년 3·1절 기념 제35회 가평의병 3·15항일운동 기념식을 개최했다고 밝혔다. 

이 날 행사에는 김성기 가평군수, 배영식 가평군의회의장, 김우일 가평군광복회장, 윤장원 가평군보훈단체협의회장 등 관계자만이 참석한 가운데 묵념, 헌화, 분향 순으로 진행되었으며 조국의 자주독립을 위하여 가평에서 활약한 의병활동과 3·1만세운동을 기념하며 순국선열에 대한 넋을 기렸다고 전했다. 

이번 기념식은 작년에 이어 코로나19로 인하여 대규모 행사는 취소하고 방역수칙을 준수하는 범위에서 약식으로 개최하게 되었다고 했다.

한말 의병운동과 3.1 운동에 참여한 가평지역의 선현들을 기리기 위한 가읍 대곡리에 위치한 항일운동 기념비경내에서 진행되었다고 전했다.

이 기념비에는 1919년 3․1운동이 전국적으로 확산되고 3월15일 가평에서도 3200여명의 군민이 모여 독립운동에 참여한 선현들의 명단과 함께 1895년 명성황후 시해와 단발령 이후 전국에서 봉기한 을미의병운동에 참여한 가평 선현들의 명단이 함께 새겨져 있다고 했다.
