[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 20일 동두천시는 소요산국민관광지내에 위치한 자유수호평화박물관 옥상부에 관람객을 위한 휴게쉼터를 조성했다고 밝혔다. 

3개월간의 공사기간을 거쳐 탄생한 박물관 옥상정원은 일상생활에서 벗어나 박물관을 찾는 관람객 누구나 편하게 즐길 수 있는 소요산 녹지 속 힐링 쉼터로 만들어졌다고 했다.  

주요 시설로는 관람객의 편안한 휴식공간을 위해 나무벤치를 설치하고 옥상정원을 둘러볼 수 있는 산책로를 마련했으며, 볼거리 제공을 위해 올해 안에 박물관과 관련된 전시 조형물도 설치할 예정이라고 했다.

박물관을 찾는 관람객은 박물관 전시실을 둘러본 후 4층 휴게쉼터를 이용해 박물관 주변 소요산 및 마차산을 전망할 수 있으며, 자연과 벗 삼아 코로나19로 지친 마음을 달래고 휴식을 마음껏 취할 수 있게 됐다고 했다.

최용덕 동두천시장은  “동두천자유수호평화박물관이 관람객 누구나 편하게 와서 즐길 수 있는 대표적인 전쟁박물관으로서, 코로나19로 인해 지친 심신을 달래고 휴식을 취할 수 있는 힐링 공간으로 거듭나기를 바란다”고 밝혔다.
