[장선희 기자 = 경기북부] 14일 환경부 한정애 장관은 공업용수 확보 관련 애로사항 청취를 위해 포천시 신북면에 소재한 신평집단화단지를 방문했다고 밝혔다.

신평집단화단지는 96년도 한탄강 물고기 폐사사고를 계기로 수질오염사고를 예방하기 위해 인근 5개 시·군의 염색공장을 이주시켜 20여년간 운영하고 있다고 했다고 말했다. 

설립당시부터 염색 가공에 필요한 용수를 2.7km 떨어진 하천에서 개별 기업에서 설치한 50여개의 PVC파이프라인을 통해 공급받고 있고, 이 과정에서 미관 및 환경상 문제점이 발생하고 기업의 입장에서도 갈수기 물부족, 장마철 탁류, 겨울철 동파 등으로 안정적인 용수확보에 많은 애로사항을 겪고 있다고 했다.

이에 한정애 환경부 장관, 박윤국 포천시장, 김기문 중소기업중앙회장, 이원웅 경기도의원 등이 한자리에 모여 해결방안을 논의했다고 말했다.

김기문 중소기업중앙회장은 “회원조합이 수십여년간 공업용수 확보에 어려움을 겪었는데 이번 환경부장관님 방문으로 애로사항이 꼭 해결되었으면 좋겠다.”고 말했다.  

박윤국 시장은 “우리 지역 현안사항에 관심을 갖고 방문해주신 한정애 장관님을 진심으로 환영한다.”라며 “신평패션칼라사업협동조합에 꼭 필요로 하는 양질의 공업용수 시설 지원을 적극 검토 부탁드린다.”고 전했다. 

한정애 환경부 장관은 “관계기관과 협력하여 그동안 소외되었던 신평염색공장 집단화단지에 공업용수와 재이용 하수처리수를 공급하여 물 문제가 해결될 수 있도록 하겠다.”고 답했다.
