[김준호 기자 = 동해시] 동해시(시장 심규언)는 시민들의 독서문화 향상 을 위해 신간도서 12,000여권과 전자책 스트리밍 서비스로 도서 대출 환경 확장 등 독서 활성화 기반 조성에 나선다.

시는, 천곡동 행정복지센터와 종합버스터미널 2개소에 설치된 스마트도서관과 이마트 무인예약대출 서비스, 전자책 스트리밍 서비스 제공으로 비대면 도서 대출 환경 기반을 조성하였고, 5개 시립도서관 책두레 서비스 및 스마트폰을 이용한 모바일서비스 등의 유비쿼터스 도서관 구축으로 이용자 중심 도서 서비스를 제공하고 있다.

한편, 동해시는 지난해 2022년 책 읽는 지자체 대상에 전국 최초로 6년 연속 수상, 2022년 제1회 대한민국 평생학습도시 좋은 정책 AWARD에서 3개 분야 모두 선정되는 쾌거를 거두는 등 독서 문화 확산에 앞장서고 있다.

전춘미 평생교육센터 소장은 “지식정보센터로서 책 읽는 도시 조성을 위해 맞춤형 자료를 비치하여 책을 매개로 소통하고 공감하는 독서문화가 활성화될 수 있도록 추진해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
