[김준호 기자 = 삼척시] 삼척시와 삼척국유림관리소는 2021년 월미도 기본용역 결과 토양침식 및 기상이변 등 고사 원인 밝혀내고 사업비 1억 8천만 원을 투입해 해송 식재 및 해안 사방사업 추진 등 을 올해 추진한다.

월미도는 삼척시 원덕읍 갈남 앞바다에 있는 섬으로, 해송 군락지는 삼척시 관광명소였으나 지금은 해송이 고사하고 침식이 진행되는 등 자연경관이 훼손되어 생태복원이 시급했다.

시는 해송 생육환경 개선을 위한 해송 종자파종 및 묘목식재를 실시하고, 해국 외 2종 초본류 식재 및 해안사방사업(돌흙막이 24m, 돌조공 37m, 토사수로 26m) 등을 이달부터 오는 10월까지 추진할 계획이다.

또한, 월미도 내에 서식하고 있는 괭이갈매기와 식생이 공존할 수 있는 방법으로 복구사업 추진과 지속적인 모니터링을 실시하여 월미도 자연복원에 최선을 다하기로 했다.

삼척시 관계자는 “이번 해안 사방사업을 통해 월미도의 아름다운 자연경관을 복원하여 삼척의 관광지로 빛날 보석같은 섬으로 다시 만들겠다.”고 말했다.
